Heart health for the mind and body

by Amy Weitzel

February is Heart Health month. I’m certain the month is meant to bring awareness to the physical health of the heart in regards to cholesterol and high blood pressure. But I think we should also focus on the emotional heart. I find it interesting that we don’t think twice about fixing our physical ailments but pay little attention to fixing our emotional wounds.

Achieving resolutions

by Amy Weitzel

A friend and I were recently discussing New Year’s Resolutions and writing our goals down for the upcoming year.  Life definitely can get in the way. But as I started thinking about it more, not achieving our goals can often be more than just life getting in the way. Beyond just daily obstacles, I think that self-limiting thoughts can also sabotage our plans for the future.

Gratitude

by Amy Weitzel

I recently suffered what I’m now referring to as “The Great Life Snafu of 2016.” OK, so there was nothing particularly great about it … in fact, it actually was a very hard, very painful time in my life, one in which I’m continuing to move through. The confusion, pain, and fear I felt were so overwhelming I sometimes felt as if I were drowning.

I think about him every single day

by Amy Weitzel

“I think about him every single day.” Those were the words my dear friend recently said to me one morning at coffee, two years after her boyfriend had completed suicide.

I think about him every single day
