Ed

by Fran Parker

I was very sad to hear that Ed Ruland died on September 14.  I didn’t know him extremely well or for very long, but he made a lasting impression on me.

4 Holiday Healthy Habits

by Dan Marzullo

The holidays are right around the corner - that means celebrations with friends and family, holiday parties, and most of all, delicious food! However, if you’re not strategic about how you indulge this season, you might end up with a bigger New Year’s resolution than you were hoping for. Grief has no rules.

by Katie Goddeyne

My mom died on Oct. 30, 2008.

I was 19, on the cusp of 20. Just old enough to have a touch of adulthood figured out. Just young enough to have no idea what the hell I was doing yet.

Ride like a girl. No - like a Mom!

By Melissa Muhr

There is nothing like racing your bike under the hot desert sun. You’re in the gate and your mind is racing. You ask yourself, what am I doing? I’m a 33-year-old wife and stay- at-home mother of two.

D51 students “Eat Smart” at School Lunch!

by Dan Sharp

In recent years, there have been many changes to the school lunch program. We have seen the “food pyramid” changed to “my plate.”  Locally, there have been recipe and staff changes.  The most significant change has been the move back to the “good ol’ days” of from-scratch cooking – and it is happening right here in Mesa County D51 schools!

Survive and Thrive

In July of 2013, my husband Joshua and I heard the words “You have Cancer.” We had been married less than a year.  I don’t remember much after that. Everything was a blur. I just knew in my heart that our lives would never be the same again...

2015 Walk to School Day!

Wednesday, October 14th is Walk to School Day! (We hear the groans already.) You might say… Why do I have to walk to school? Why should I walk or ride with my child to school? And we say… Because it’s fun, it’s healthy, and it’s good for the environment.

What’s so fun about walking or riding to school? Are you kidding me?

School and stress – find what works for you

This is year 16 of my academic journey. When I think about the fact that only four years of my life have been spent outside of the classroom, it doesn’t seem real. School is what I know best...
