Fran spent all of her career working in nonprofits and government, most recently as a Health Promotion Specialist at the Mesa County Health Department. She’s now exploring retirement, balancing multiple new opportunities to reinvent herself with the heavy demands of her two feline dependents, Daisy and Lily. She moved to the Grand Valley from Wisconsin in 2006.
Katie is Northern Michigan native who grew up in a small town near the tip of the mitt. The Mesa County Health Department Communication Specialist graduated from Colorado Mesa University with a bachelor’s degree in communication in 2012. Katie is known for being incredibly clumsy and for her semi-obnoxious loud laugh.
Andi is a student at Colorado Mesa University, studying mass communication and marketing, and interning at the Mesa County Health Department this summer. Andi enjoys swimming and cats, but not swimming with cats.
Leigh Fitch is the Program Director and Co-Founder of Neural Activity, which started in Mesa County in 2013. She enjoys working in stained glass as well as yoga, rock climbing, mountain biking, kayaking, and camping with her husband and two dogs.
Melissa is a wife to an amazing husband and mother to two wonderful children. She moved here from Ft. Worth, TX in 2001 to attend then Mesa State College and instantly fell in love with Colorado. Melissa graduated with a BA in Criminology and Mass Communications and a minor in Political Science.
Mary Cornforth Cawood
Mary is a Health Promotion Specialist at the Mesa County Health Department and a part of the Healthy Mesa County team. She is a Mesa County native who is married with two children. When not acting as a shuttle service for her children, Mary likes to swim, read and bake. Mary and her youngest daughter both have Celiac disease, so developing gluten-free recipes that are both healthy and tasty has become her mission!
Lindsay Maurer is an exercise physiologist. She is the Community Wellness Liaison at the Fruita Community Center and Owner of FIT4MOM Fruita. She has over 9 years of experience in the fitness and wellness industry. Lindsay is a trained Lifestyle Coach for the National Diabetes Prevention Program. She teaches this program at the Fruita Community Center Tuesdays from 12:30-1:30.

Heather Biller Gerson is a full-time soccer and golf mom. She is a mom to her 6th-grade son and 10th-grade daughter and their English springer spaniel, Archie. When she’s not watching her kids on the field, Heather enjoys cooking, hiking, yoga, skiing and entertaining friends and family.
